Blurring or darkening is far more forgiving than cutting out: a few pixels of error look like a soft shoulder rather than a mistake. White and Navy replace the background outright — best for a staff portrait against a plain wall, and worth taking your time over the outline.

Covered areas are replaced with large blocks, not softened — a soft blur can sometimes be undone by software, and blocks cannot.
